Learn more about ROC’s BAMS

BAMS students

One of Riverview Opportunity Center’s main focuses is the Bullitt Advanced Math and Science (BAMS) program. BAMS seeks to help gifted students in BCPS reach their full potential as learners and as people through inquiry experiences, a rigorous and relevant curriculum, and educational outreach. BAMS provides an intense combination of online content, traditional classroom instruction, and authentic and exciting hands-on scientific inquiry experiences. Students have opportunities to learn through unique education programs at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, General Electric, and the Kentucky Science Center, amongst others. Additionally, through a partnership with JCTC Southwest, students have the opportunity to attain their diploma plus an associate’s degree during their junior and senior years of high school.

Students interested in participating in the BAMS program next year will have the opportunity to apply in early 2022.

The application and admission process is listed below:

  • There will be an open house opportunity in late February, 2022, not yet scheduled. We will address who we are and what we do here in BAMS. All students and parents interested are welcome to attend.

  • Applications will be due Friday, March 11, 2022. You can apply here; students will need to have two recommending teachers who will be asked to submit an online form, also on that website page.

  • During April to early May, all applications and recommendations will be reviewed and finalists will be contacted for a final interview to take place in April. After all interviews have been conducted, Cohort 10 students will be selected and sent a certificate acknowledging their achievement and acceptance into the BAMS program.
