The BCPS Agriculture Olympics was a success, with our BEHS students named the winners! Our Future Farmers of America (FFA) student chapter hosted this Olympic event in our classroom and out back by Old Mill Elementary. This event was put on by and for the agriculture departments in Bullitt County, with Bullitt East, Bullitt Central, and North Bullitt FFA chapters invited to compete. Over 100 FFA members from across the county came to participate.
The Presidents from the three FFA chapters in the county began planning this event over the summer while they were at FFA camp. In true Olympic style, our Agriculture Olympics (Ag Olympics) was a field day event, including events like pig in the haystack, spine relay, water balloon toss, a clothes relay, and -- of course! -- the classic tug of war. No event is complete without food, so students were supplied with freshly grilled hotdogs and brats.
Each school had a representing team in each event, and the winner was determined by whichever team won the most events. Bullitt Central made a trophy with a cup on it, subsequently called the Ag Olympics Bullitt Cup. Our very own BEHS FFA chapter won the most events, making them the proud champions of the first-ever Ag Olympics.
